My story

Hi, I’m Jen!

I grew up in a small Wisconsin town, where my childhood was a mix of quiet streets, towering cornfields, and endless creative adventures. I was the quiet kid who loved art, solving problems, and listening more than talking—so much so that I earned the nickname “problem solver” at a young age. My design journey started with chalk art on sidewalks and driveways and quickly evolved into a love for graphic arts and web development in high school.

Early career

College took me from a local community school to the bustling city of Chicago, where I earned my bachelor’s in design. From there, I dove headfirst into a career that spanned graphic design, front-end development, UX, product design, and eventually design leadership. I thrive on listening to customers, understanding their challenges, and designing solutions that make their lives easier. And when I’m not doing that, I’m mentoring, learning, and geeking out over all things design.

Today

Seven years ago, my husband and I traded Midwest winters for San Diego sunshine, and now I spend as much time as possible running, hiking, camping, and soaking up the ocean breeze. I’ve been lucky to travel the world—highlights include a safari in Kenya, camping in the Sahara, hiking in Patagonia, and exploring castles in Ireland and Scotland. At home, I channel my creativity into homebrewing with my husband, (think snickerdoodle cream ale and mint chocolate chip porter) and hanging out with our two rescue cats, Oatmeal Stout and Barleywine, who basically run the place.
